There was a guy who threw a boomerang and ended up hitting his head so he sued himself for $300,000 and he won. And then he got that money from insurance. I don't exactly understand it myself but somehow the court allowed this to happen

Notice that in the original post it doesn't say "I heard that…" But it says "I remember..."

So somebody "remembers" this falsehood as being true. That seems more dangerous than just believing everything you hear.
