Maybe it's just poetic irony? I think the anchor makes more sense because all bouys float, so what's special about that?

I doubt people buy anchor charms or get them tattoed for the irony. If anything it should be a boat half sunk and a guy bailing water out of it but thats not a good charm I guess. I dunno, its lost on me. I just think its funny.
I have an anchor tattoo. I got it to represent the fact that no matter what the world throws at me I will not let it drag me down and that "I refuse to sink"
