It'a beautiful but how does it taste? I imagine it takes like dried apple with a bit of breadcrumbs, seeing how many apples are in it.

Usually with these you glaze over the top with a syrup made from the apples, sugar, and some spices being cooked slowly. That usually keeps the apples moist. It just tastes like normal apple pie.
