Horse or motorcycle riding boots? Either way they are a necessity when riding. When I see people riding motorcycles on the freeway in just tennis shoes I shake my head.

Dirt bike riding boots are 300-500 dollars but are waaaay worth it. Otherwise you'll have broken ankles.

I have a couple pairs of over $100 footwear. I wear Red Wing boots, they cost more that timberlands but last twice as long, waterproof, supportive and insulated. I also have a pair of Muckmasters. My Rocky bear claws are nice, as are my NB cross trainers, and my Adidas runners.
