A simple way to fix this is zoom in slightly. Most gallery type apps won't let you swipe to other images while the active one is zoomed in. Or you could keep certain photos in different (locked) albums.

To counter this first text the photo to a text thread with no other pictures in it or only sanitized pics, then open the photo you want to show them in messages, swiping will only show the pictures in that specific text thread.
