They rebooted because Sam Raimi couldn't meet the deadline for a Spider-Man 4, and Sony was already planning a reboot as backup. I like Maguire and Garfield for different reasons, and I hope they show up in some kind of Spider-Verse movie now that Spidey is back at Marvel.
