That is why the entertainment industry sucks. Even if he is unattractive, he is an amazing singer. You shouldn't have to be the total package to a successful artist.

I think the main distinction is pop star. As pop music is the music of the masses that appeals to our base instincts when we turn off our brains and just melt into repetitive verses with little to no actual meaning. And that is the type of music which needs a driving force of an attractive star to drive it to gain impressionable young fans
