5 people died, it was a live fire exercise with a mortar. Something went wrong and the mortar blew up

....okay? Why was i downvoted? That doesn't answer my question. I know the guy in the photo is not the photographer, but is the guy in the photo dead? It's like this website has the mentality of "downvote first, give the commenter an answer never."

I have no idea why you were downvoted and I thought that would've answered your question, sorry. In the photo he is not currently dead, he died seconds later however, I hope that answers your question
