In NY it is illegal to sue your employer.

Dependa on the reasons. You can't sue for more than worker's comp will cover in an injury case. It's an at-will state so you can't sue just for being fired. But there are things NY law will let you sue for if you can prove them...discrimination, sexual harassment, violating whistleblower protection, etc.

If the lawyer shoots his mouth off, that's betraying lawyer-client confidentiality, and he'll be disbarred.
