depends on position at least in my experience if you get a job you get paid on the size of the job so if you dont get any contracts than you dont get paid.
well in a regular job you get paid by the hour not the amount of work you are actually doing. I intern for my dad who refinishes wood. he will get a contract telling him to fix their cabinets he has to get the correct wood refinishes coatings and supplies for it and has to figure out how much it will cost to travel and how many hours it will take he has to determine all of these things before hand and then give the customer the proper bid and hope that you got enough money to cover everything you do including the cover up of any mistakes you will make. Whereas most jobs they just say do this and you will get paid for however many hours you are doing this for.
