I never understood how people could truly believe that they are being helpful by saying things like, "If you'd lose x pounds...." One time, I came back home from vacation with a tan, and a colleague said, "Oh thank goodness you got a tan. You were much too pale before." You mean my natural skin colour, that thing I was born with, was bad? WTF?
