To be fair it is standard to at least acknowledge your customers in any business, to look up or give a little wave. Customers in general are pretty used to feeling like they're wanted in most restaurants and shops. I understand that part of their review, everything else and the one star is a bit of an extreme reaction though.

That's right. They are used to it. But there are some stores like Walgreens and Cici's pizza I avoid because when you walk in it seems like the whole store wants to talk to you. "HI! WELCOME TO WALGREENS!!!!!!!!!!!!"
