I can imagine her sitting the three of them down, medals and all, and making them cry.

I just did my second run through of "Blueprint for Armageddon" which is a six part podcast about wwI (at about 2 1/2 - 3 hours apiece) done by history nerd Dan Carlin for his "Hardcore History" podcast. It goes into some nutty stuff: like Nicholas II's heir having hemophilia leading to the influence of Rasputin, Wilhelm's inferiority complex leading to Germany's intensity, and George's figurehead status leading him to being barely mentioned in the entire ordeal. If you Google "hardcore history" you can still hear all six parts before they disappear behind the pay wall, I would recommend it entirely! (As well as his three part series on the Persian empire leading into and beyond the historic last stand of the Spartans titled "King of Kings".) Potato.

But Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was not a grandchild of Queen Victoria, he just married someone who was her granddaughter (Alexandra Feodorovna)
