Don't know the full story and too lazy to google, but I don't think he should've resign. If it doesn't interfere with his work, then go for it. Be who you wanna be as long as you don't hurt anyone. Is it because of shame? If that's the case, he shouldn't have resign either and be a better councilman and prove to them wrong, that being something that they find "odd", do not make you a bad person. Or is being a "furry" bad? Serious question here
Being a furry itself isn't bad, the common consensus amongst normal people comes from an episode of CSI called "Fur and Loathing" which painted all furries as sexual deviants, and that it's all about sex. Which couldn't be further from the truth. Nothing about the Furry Fandom is sexual from minute 1, it's the people who make it sexual. Does the sexual side exist? A sexual side exists for all fandoms, it's called the internet, but Furries get the bad rap for it, and no matter what, and we can't shake it off, no matter how hard we try. Plus most people believe it's weird especially suiters, I get it, but it's no different than any other cosplay that's ever been done, there are certain conventions where that costume would be okay. Plus for whatever reason, people all believe that furries are into beastialty, 99.9999% aka, most normal people aren't, so why would we.
In conclusion, we get a bad rap because we're like any other fandom, just with media representation and stereotypes
Thank you for the explanation. That's what I thought, it's the same as cosplay but more fur:) I'm sorry if people ever made you feel that you need to be ashamed. (I don't think I got the wording right, tired brain, but hope you understood what I meant)
I'm not part of the furry fandom and I don't know anyone who's a furry personally. I don't think it's anything anyone should be ashamed of though, I think it's important to find something you love in life and enjoy it! Plus it isn't like any harm is being done!
It actually makes me sad that this man resigned.
Fair, but one's private life, as long is it doesn't hurt or effect anyone in a negative way, it shouldn't matter.
That applies to what I said, furries aren't seen in a good light by the media, therefore anyone associated with that is as bad as the stereotype.
