It's hard to understand how some people think watching a show makes them intelligent. I am sure the creator hates this kind of fan base.

It's a bit like TBBT where the nerds tell themselves all the jokes are so sophisticated and insider-only, when way most of them are merely at a Two and a Half Men level. Which in that case is pretty much what the creators wanted.
last time i heard the creators hated the way the fans reacted. The schezwan sauce drama was bit much.
