Am I the only one who thinks that smoke detectors need some serious redesigns? Like seriously it's permanently mounted to a building with electric so why use a disposable 9 volt when you could power it off the house and just have a rechargeable battery backup. And don't get me started on the awful sounds they make when you need a new battery.

They make those, they also have batteries (I think lithium) that work for 10 years plus. also there are different types of detectors for different areas of the house ie kitchen, bedrooms, furnace, garage. Unfortunately, people don't understand how the different kinds work and are cheap with buying smoke detectors.
