I used it all the time in my computer science class when we had to create a basic program that converted fahrenheit to celcius

The second one is not a square root, but a square. If you want the square root, type sqrt.
Oh, and also : WolframAlpha is WAY better at math than Google. You can solve a whole lot of equations with it, use matrices, and so on.
