But like ... you have a tank. You can just shoot someone who comes to get it ... unless they have another tank

True but most tanks take a minimum of 2 to 3 people to drive operate and shoot. And assuming they have shells to shoot. But if they stole a tank it probably wouldn't be to difficult for them to steal ammo.
