Read the story, it’s only symbolic. They currently make approx $405,000/year and have a scheduled 1% raise coming. Roughly 700 have agreed to forgo the $4,000 this year and distribute the money among nursing staff in an effort to hire more nurses, there is a shortage of qualified nurses. A majority of doctors would need to agree to the temporary wage freeze to make it happen, however this reflects about 3% of them. Nurses are desperately needed in Canada right now if any of y’all Canadians are trying to decide on a college path (unfortunately the working conditions suck).

It wasn't 700 doctors - it was attendings, residents, and med students mixed into one. Also, it is only Quebec not the rest of Canada. I'm going to be honest, this looks like a publicity stunt to make Quebec look better.
