Either because it doesn’t totally look like a joke, or the fact that he literally died yesterday and some people may not appreciate the timing of the humor.

I think that Hawking would have gotten a kick out of all the memes and jokes. He seemed to have a pretty broad sense of humor, and prett good comedic timing.

Being the only known life in the universe is kinda special too, isn't it? These guys would lose their fucking minds if they discovered single celled organisms on another planet, but we're just "advanced monkeys."

I wonder if he realized that there's ,unfortunately , way too many people that will argue that The Sun is not a star but a sun. I have also met a few folks that insist that the moon generates its own light. I guess that's why we have Velcro shoes.

If we can have flat earthers then it's not really surprising that, there are people who believe that the moon produces it's own light.
