Well, I think the poster means that it's illogical that while someone who has committed a crime gets something free, schools can't provide for kids. So, it's not that inmates shouldn't get food for free, it's that if their meals can be funded, shouldn't the public school system be able to fund kids' meals too? :)
Just my opinion on the post. ^_^
Well public schools are paid for through tax dollars. If the school were to provide without us paying directly for it, taxes would increase. So either way, you would still have to provide for it.
But I do see what you're saying there.
Yes, but like I said earlier, they can't charge inmates for their food. They have no money, they don't have jobs. Whereas students have parents and guardians who have some sort of income coming in to pay for lunches. And if its not a lot, there is free/reduced lunch that you can sign up for if you're household has less than a certain amount of income that is funded by tax dollars.
I concur with your point. :) Again, it's just the "why not let all kids get free lunch" thing as some inmates /can/ arrange to have their food paid for through family or savings, etc. :> So, why make some kids pay for food if all inmates get free meals, regardless of whether or not they have the ability to pay for it? /That's/ what is illogical, not that inmates get their meals paid for.
Okay, well then that is screwed up.
And I don't understand why my comment got a dislike. I'm only using common sensual logic.
But then again, that person probably lacks it and could be jealous that I do have it.
Nerdsarecool1212 many parents don't really "parent", although I see your point. My mum would often forget to buy groceries for my sister and I when she went to work, and being a single mother, she was always working to provide for us. Schools should be given funds to create meals for students like that or for those who can't afford it.
They do, well our school system does. Parents can sign up for a free or reduced price lunch and breakfast at school if their household has a minimum income. I'm not on the program, but I have plenty of friends who are.
On one hand, school kids have families and thus someone who can provide them some food. On the other hand, I don't understand the logic "He's committed a crime and ruined the lives of some people, let's give him free food and a place to live."
It's not long since our teacher complained how all her taxes go to our studies. But most of the state schools have old equipment, make children buy their own books and other stuff, have no lunches or anything...then what percent of the taxes go to schools and what to the prisons, hmm?
I guess the government tries to support the criminals, because they are a bunch of thieves, themselves.
Look at California... The state is being forced to reduce prison population because there are "too many inmates". They have to provide medical care to the inmates. If they need an MRI? Paid for. Medications? Paid for. A sex change? Oh yeah, the courts just mandated the state of Mass. pay for that...
Umm actually some inmates can and do make money in prison. They can also get money sent to them. If they work in the kitchens or stuff like that they can get a little wage, like to buy vending machine food instead of eating cafeteria food
