Tons of algae buildup from both natural and man-made sources (the heavy rains has triggered an early algae bloom that is also being fueled by runoff from commercial farming and urban development). That lake is the lifeblood of South Florida and if they didn't release some of that algae, everything in the entire lake would've suffocated from the slimy water.
That's very true, lots of things could be changed these days to benefit the environment. It's going slowly but the world is changing, a little too late imo but at least things are starting to change.
