Depends, I've known a couple of people who just have the knack, they get one every time, first try. Most whole sellers don't actually sell them for a quarter each, because it is assumed A) most people aren't going to actually get one, B) if they do it will be after the 2nd or 3rd attempt. But also, she probably finds it more fun this way.

in germany one try on the clawmachine always was like 1€.. if you would buy in bulk, it would be cheaper (like 10-30ct). even if you get one every time. but jupp.. it's sure more fun to get them out the machine by skill.
