My bro read the books around the first movie release and told me about it all, after begging him to "spoil it" for me. It was strange that this part wasn't really known by most folks until they saw the movie. I guess people liked keeping it a surprise for others. Cool.

Actually they acted out the scene where david prowes (vader) said "no obi-wan killed your father" that's what we see mark hamil react to. It wasn't until post production when they re-dubbed prowes' lines with that of james earl jones. That they recorded the line "I am your father". It was after that moment when the actors actually found out. Otherwise everything else is right.
