I don't think that's really necessary but like history books also have how sundials work, rotary phones, telegrams etc. Anything that isn't used anymore or in our everyday lives is going to need explanation to those who don't use it. Just as the elderly need help with the internet, social media etc. Time moves on.
I am very old but have no problem using all the latest "tech junk" (my term for computers and so on!) and am even fully paperless, unlike my younger colleagues :)
