There should also be a "What if I told you...if you didn't stand around complaining about how you're never promoted, you'd get promoted."

What if I told you that I'm standing around because I've already finished all of the possible jobs for me to complete and that you're now paying me to stand around whether you like it or not.

As someone who is actually in this situation from time to time, I can tell you how rare it is. Not to mention, most of the time, when people use this excuse, there are actually a dozen things they could be doing. This is the case daily for a couple people in the ER I work in, and they are soon to be unemployed.
