That's a very extreme measure. But it's only natural for authoritarians to fear independence and self-sufficiency.

Whilst I do agree that individuals can be self sufficient, it does not mean they live free of the law. The Chinese wild meat and traditional medicine markets literally drives animals to extinction. Plus it stops some animals getting into caged restaurants, were animals are kept alive in squlaor until it's time for their heads to be removed.

Do you get your meat tested? There is a CWD or Chronic wasting deer disease rn. They aren't sure if it can pass to humans yet and therefore are attempting to stop consumption before testing. Otherwise we will end up with covid 20 lol. That said, where people are starving they are going to keep eating dangerous and unregulated stuff. :/

CWD has been a thing for decades, and it is nowhere near making a species jump. Even then, I don't target sickly animals, and my meat is properly prepared. Bad kitchens do more harm than bad meat ever could.
