I think most of them are just using the term other people use. Or they feel closely violated and want some control over the situation again, which would be unlike other crimes.

I think it also dehumanizes the rapist. Instead of “the person who raped me”, where they are still a person. It’s “my rapist “. They are now defined by what they did. I heard it used with stalking also. “My stalker”. It sounds weird at first but I can see the logic behind it.
