There's actually a scientific reason for this, it's not just kids being spoiled. It's because the more of those things you have, the more value you put in material objects and the less time you spend with other people, which makes you happy (one of the number one things to do to help depression, aside from getting medical help, is to become involved in your school and community). Also, the more choices you have, the less happy you are because you'll always wonder if you picked the right one (that's why people get midlife crisises).

Back in June when I was on a mission trip, we sang to some homless people and they were so happy. It made me think that we have all this stuff but we want more and people that are homeless don't have the stuff we have and they're happy. This post is so true
I'm spoiled as hell because I'm an only child with awesome grades and my dads worked at Microsoft for 20+ years, but I'm super grateful! Besides, just because you have a lot of stuff, doesn't mean life is perfect and that you can't justify being unhappy. My dads an asshole sometimes, and even though he buys me things I can still have reason to be upset with him.
I'm gonna make damn sure my kid(s) don't end up like this. I can't stand people like that.
