This is a terrible idea. The lighting chemicals in the charcoal (like Kingsford) and the anti-stink, anti-clump chemical in cat litter do not need to be in your water. Buy a Sawyer Mini! The idea that a wet sponge stops toxic chemicals!?! Read an army manual on NBC! Spend the $200 on a mask and suit.

What the hell. It looks like you kill the cat and then take its litter.

Charcoal for a fish tank, not charcoal for a BBQ. BBQ charcoal has tar and other contaminates.
