I used to look after an awesome dog called Max for a family friend.
He was a very good natured dog (he groomed the cat!) He was upset every time they went away, and was shy when we first met.
I had been warned that he would run away when let of the lead, so I slowly trained him to stay interested in my company, with the aid of a few treats his favorite toy, and lots of love.
He stopped eating as he didn't like dry food, so I used to put gravy on his food... He soon loved it and ate every last morsel.
He always wanted to play despite his age (9 years old at the time we met)... Over the years I would visit and walk him, we became firm friends and he would Always spring about and lick my hands for a walk.
On the last few visits to see my dear friend, he would audibly whine when he got up to see me... after a while I rush up to him just to prevent him from feeling the pain of his burgeoning years.
I recently heard that he'd passed away. I never got to say goodbye. I miss my friend...SFTLP
I have a dog that I've had since I was four. He's pretty old now and has arthritis. On top of that this past summer he got hit by a fed ex truck he now has 3 legs (front right is missing. For the people that don't know losing a front leg makes it much harder to move than losing a back leg) he tries his best to move around and greet us but since he doesn't have a tail he wiggles the whole back half of his body when he's happy and this tends to throw him off balance. It makes me so sad to watch
;(
