Um no. A normal mature person shows respect no matter how anyone acts. You don't show respect because some one earns it. You show it because your classy.
Like I said to the person that posted after you.. I do show respect... but before I can, I'm judged. And I'm really sorry i have to do this but...... *you're
Wait, so you don't show respect to people unless they show respect to you first... if everyone thinks that way then no one will respect anyone ever. How about you show respect to everyone you meet, until and unless they prove your respect is not deserved. Then to hell with them.
This is what i'm putting out there. I'm not saying that I don't give respect but before even a word comes out of my mouth they're rude. Like I've already done something. Or they just give me evil eyes from across the room. I'm not saying that I'm not showing respect to someone unless they show respect first. I'm saying that I'm given disrespect even before a word can come out of my mouth. Also. I am very respectful to every person I meet. You're just like them... you're making assumptions out of something I never even said.
Well, the image clearly states that to get respect the elderly need to behave in certain ways, which implies starting from a point of no respect. I appologize for reacting to your words rather than your intentions.
If you don't want people making assumptions about you for gods sake, stay off the Internet. And perhaps out of the public. I get treated like a shoplifter all the time because I wear a duster in the summer, but it gets damn cold by the time I go home most days. The bowler hat doesn't help. It's a price I'm willing to pay.
Also, I assure you I was a smart-ass long before I grew old, as my mom will gladly verify. Growing older didn't change that, it just gave me more perspective, a broader framework to work with and bigger words.
I'm just going to reply to the first part.. because you're veering off topic more than i'd like to go..... If I posted my intentions on the picture... you wouldn't see the meme. Get with it, hun.
Wasn't complaining. Just putting my intentions out there so people can understand what i mean. If i were complaining I'd be like. "Y'ALL JUST DON'T GET IT. GOSH YOU IDIOTS. HOW DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND" and clearly that was not went down.
Fair enough. I'll also point out that growing older doesn't make people stop being asses, it just makes them subtler about it. A young jerk is likely to grow into an old jerk. And some old people resent the young just for being young, which isn't fair but it's true. I don't feel that way because I was an idiot when I was young and would rather not do that again.
I'm glad you understood. The elderly just assume that we're all terrible so they fail to treat us with respect... and i know you're supposed to respect the elderly but you're not very willing to do that if you're judged for being a teenager and aren't getting any respect back whatsoever
