Onions make me cry

So that's why I don't cry when I cut onions.

I tried to cut an onion without crying and m dad came in and started laughing at me hysterically bc I was sitting with a half chopped onion and a knife sobbing on the floor.

Apparently, chewing gum while cutting onions prevents crying. But I haven't tried it.

I never cry while cutting onions. ??
