Now, I admit that you have to change some things to realistically make a book a movie, but COME ON. Did you have to spoil the ENTIRE SERIES PLOT in the FIRST Mortal Instruments movie??? DID YOU???
WWZ was different though. Plan B paid a shit ton of money for rights, so of course they got it. But you couldn't turn WWZ in to a movie properly. I personally believe it would benefit from a HBO miniseries.
It's not just the walking zombies. They took the reasons people liked the book and said "To fuck with that!" They followed one generic linear story, the opposite of what we loved about the book.
I'm reading this right now, and even though I'm only about 100 pages in, I don't think it would work as a movie.
That said, with many other books/movies, this is not the case, and I think the reason the stories get so screwed up sometimes is that the majority of moviegoers don't want to sit through a 3-4 hour movie. I happen to not mind, as long as the movie is good. Take my LoTR bluray 4 hour extended editions, for example.
