It's cause reading causes your imagination to work, so in a sense you are giving your brain a workout. Depending on the video game you play, your brain gets less of a workout. Plus, you can read outside.

I can watch tv for 12 hrs straight but if I play video games for 10 minutes my girlfriend looses her mind fml

I don't understand D: I can play video games for like 2 - 8 hours straight but if I read a book for an hour, I'm suddenly the bad guy
