George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and John F Kennedy have all made a difference and they were loved... Or am I wrong??

In retrospect, yes, they're well loved, but even they had a significant chunk of the population that didn't like them at the time. It's the nature of the beast.
