I don't really understand the point of this. The British empire does rule all of the land highlighted in the first picture so can someone explain?

Britain doesn't rule Canada,they are independent but have to put the queen on their money,which is the only thing they really do for Britain

Actually, all of the actions of Canadian Parliament have to be approved by the Governor General; who stands as a direct representative to British Parliament. A.K.A. The British Empire.

We in South Africa won complete independence and changed our currency also we do not put "the queen" on our money, we are a republic on our own.

to clarify, all of those countries highlighted USED to be ruled by britain, along with many more (USA and a LOT of africa)
