Seriously i hate when my parents put more attention to grades even though they knew i studied hard for it.

Meh, if they got a good grade, does it really matter how hard they worked or not to get that grade? I'd agree to still praise them if they tried really hard and didnt get the best grade though

For children who coast through school on intelligence alone, adulthood can be a shock. Suddenly they make it to post-secondary and they can't cope because they don't have the skills to work hard. It's much healthier to know how to work because grades aren't a part of life forever.

i was one of those kids who got A's easily. Even though i couldve taken a few minutes alone, a spent a good time studying. My parents praised my grades and not my hard work. Unless i worked hard for myself even though i didnt have to, i woulda been fucked in the real world. i had no clue what to do

I don't think I understand this post all the way. As a person who is currently in middle school, even though I always get A's and B's on assignments, they took effort and hard work. I find the two to go hand in hand, and if you get really good grades (like myself usually) I feel like you should be praised for both. I know that if my parents didn't congratulate me on always having A's for all of my class averages, I would be upset. Why? Because the grades ARE my efforts and hard work.
