as long as it didn't fill with water, it actually wouldn't do too bad.

That part in the movie was so sad. And the captain locking himself in the room. And the woman tucking the kids into bed, knowing they couldn't get on a boat because they were the lower class, so they decided to drown. OH MY GOD, THAT MOVIE MESSES YOU UP.

But, in reality, the lower classes were not stopped from getting into the boats.

Yes, but since they were lower class it meant they where located near the bottom of the ship. Therefore making it harder to reach the top, and by then all the boats would most likely be gone.

I believe that drawing looks like a double bass and I should know what a cello looks like, I play one

The shape of the instrument does look like a double bass (I would know I play one) but it's probably just supposed to be a cello because he's sitting down

Ice water, suction of the ship, and fall from the sinking ship would still make death pretty likely, plus other drowning people trying to get your "raft." Plus anyone could probably find some piece of wood on the ship, but it doesn't mean they'd be able to hold onto it in the chaos.

A real musician would hold the cello above the water as he sank.

Are you serious right now. No an actual person wouldn't hold the instrument over his head. Omg I just can't.

A bass would work better
