The sun is not on fire. Things can only catch fire in the presence of oxygen, and that element does not exist in the sun. Instead it is undergoing nuclear fusion, turning hydrogen into helium.

Actually there is oxygen within the sun. The nuclear fusion doesn't stop with helium (4-He), but goes further in its inner core (well, nitrogen and oxygen are the limit). However, you're right - it is not on fire.
