This has nothing to to with a white crayon, they draw with water first and then add ink, and it 'bleeds' into the water.

True but crayons don't leave such a crisp line. The parts that are left white were probably just purposely left dry. Or maybe this whole art is just made with magic, that could be a possibility too!
