You shouldn't hate your country. You should hate the idiots in it.

They can't arrest them for destroying the flag if they're on their property. They're protected by the 1st amendment. A case similar to that has already gone to the Supreme Court about it and ruled that it is allowed to as long as you are doing it on your own property.

Can I note that the westboro sometimes have police protection on their picketing because people sometimes attack them?

Because what they are doing is legal. Attacking them is not. That is why they get police protection. I don't agree with their ideals whatsoever in fact I find most of them completely abhorrent, but I DO agree with upholding their constitutional rights as American citizens. The OP is right, only in "Merica" would a small minority be able to voice their opinions, no matter what they are, without being systematically repressed by the majority

Oh yeah its their constitutional right to spread hate and hurt grieving families. You Americans put way too much stock in your Constitution

I don't agree with the Westboro Baptists, but I do with the Constitution. For centuries people who stood up for blacks were hated and thought of as foolish. For all you know, some of your beliefs may seem like that in the future. People need the right to speak out and change times.
