(I think, and correct me if Im wrong) but since the guy has amnesia, he wants the amnesia guy to think he's usually an asshole so he will act nice to the homeless dude, which would be the only way that Randy would be a cheerful person

I think Randy is the only name that he doesn't like, and if he doesn't find out his name is Randy, and something else, it probably doesn't go as planned because he hates that name.

A lot of people don't like the name Randy. It's a very white trash name (or at least seems that way) and is also a synonym for crude sexual behavior. Kind of like how Dick is a valid nickname, but it's not one you would want.
