It takes a pretty specific set of conditions to produce fossils, from the organism dying in soft mud/tar etc to the earth remaining pretty much still for a really long time. It's surprising that we have as many as we do.. but anyway, there are fossils of transitional species. I'll post a link in a sec.
This is logic:
1. Where did the fish come from? Amoebas?
2. Where did the amoebas come from? Protozoans?
3. Where did the protozoans come from? Cells?
4. Where did the cells come from? Dust?
5. Where did the dust come from? An explosion?
6. Where did the explosion come from? Condensing matter?
7. Where did the condensing matter come from? ?????
We can follow the chain to the point where science can not answer the question. This is why evolution is not fact, it is a theory, one that crumbles under it's own weight. Atheists believing something can come from nothing, must also - by default - believe a 1970 Corvette can materialize out of nowhere one day on their front lawn.
Now atheists counter:
1. Where did God come from?
By definition, a theist, through faith, believes God to be a constant and operates beyond science. Because they do not hold to the scientific theory, they are exempt from having to provide proof.
Guest, I will admit that you are citing a working hypothesis as to where the universe came from. But what we have to realize is that the hypothesis does not have any more credibility just because it fits; this is also logic.
Also, "first cause" is a far cry from "arbiter of all morality" and all the other things attributed to god. Was there a first cause? Sure. Does it follow that we should stone adulterers to death? I think the best answer to "does god exist?" is still, "depends what you mean by god."
I believe in god, but I also believe science, but not evolution. I dont agree withthe guest though. Both sides have a chain and both have starts, but proof is always necessary, our at least what that is to yourself. An argument our conversation needs both sides. For me its the complexity in nature, and the patern it holds to.
Fellow Guest, you are basically offeding the Pope. He says that as long as atheists are nice, they are better than some Christians. Are you saying Athesits are inferior? Because if you are, that is just dumb. Also, the Pope says Christans can belive in Evolution, too. Evolution and the Big bang is much more believeable than an almighty figure creating a woman from a backbone. And I am not bashing the Christian religion, or atleast I do not intend to, but you are a very ignorant person. And evolution doesn't mean a car will show up in your front yard eventually. Please do your research.
Only read first part of your comment, but there aren't any bad Christians, yes they do call themselves that but deep down they aren't. You are a Christian because of your deeds not your words.
The pope doesn't define Christianity. He is the leader of the Catholic Christains (not all Christains). While I agree with him he doesn't speak for every single Christain
