I have one of these Fisher space pens. I GUARD IT WITH MY LIFE. IT IS THE BEST PEN I HAVE EVER HAD.

I had one as well long ago. Back when I was an unappreciative child. I don't know what happened to it.

A pencil is actually not suitable for space use. The lead powder created from the friction of pencil on paper floats around from zero gravity, which can get in machines and cause problems.
