I chased down and tackled a shoplifter after he threw one of the other employees into a display rack. I didn't lose my job, but the boss wasn't very happy with me.

.... What to even say to this?

And then I know a guy who DID follow store policy and gave them the money and he was fired too. EMPLOYERS, MAKE UP YO DAMN MINDS.

Why? Why not reward him? At least the boss could have a been a but more grateful.

Stupid people, stupid people everywhere.

To be fair. You never know what a robber is going to have with him or be able to do. You don't know if he's a karate black belt, you don't know if he has a gun on him, etc. The reason the policy is "just give it up" is because if he didn't and fought back, such as this case, and the robber beat the shit out of him, or shot him, or whatever, now the company is liable for the employee. So rather than lose the hundred bucks in the register, they are now liable for thousands in hospital bills, lawsuits, etc. There is also the off chance the robber would be injured and end up suing (yes this happens) causing more lawsuit bills

What the hell? Sometimes I don't like living in Philly...
