Yeah locks aren't going to stop a determined robber

It might discourage them. Especially if they're taking too long. They might run off afraid someone will show up, such as the police and get caught

except locks only turn one way or the other, they'd realize it was unlocked pretty quick not turn it the wrong way to lock it

This is not true the locks turn one direction to lock and the opposite to unlock. Thieves know this, they will see that only 3 are locked.
