People like guest over there piss me off to no end. Yes, suicide is a choice. You control that. You choose to jump, whether it's because you feel there's no way out or otherwise. Being gay is /not/ a choice. Why on earth would someone choose to be gay when they get this kind of treatment? You can't help who you find attractive. Besides, what is honestly so wrong with being gay? What has a gay person ever done to you? The stereotypical gay is personified with a rainbow. Yup. That rainbow is gonna hurt you.

Yeah, see.. That's the whole point of the word "orientation." That's why we don't really use preference, anymore. Your preferences can be influenced. Orientation is who/how you are.

Like I told my bigot of a history teacher: A straight guy doesn't wake up one day and say, "I think I'll start liking penises." It's not something you choose, but something you are born with.

Did you really say that to your history teacher? (Not trying to get down voted here, just wondering)

Yep, really said it. And when he continued to rant about religion and how anyone who has ever had a, in his words, "gay thought" was going to hell, I told him I wasn't going to sit there and listen to him anymore, got up, and walked out.

Thanks, I guess. I've never been one to sit around and watch someone pick on people. He had one of my best friends, who is a lesbian, nearly in tears. I took her with me when I left the room, and we went straight to the principal. We got my friend moved to the class of another teacher, and the asshole teacher didn't say another word about it for the rest of the year. He didn't speak to me either.

What were your grades for that semester? Did he grade you harder than other people?

He didn't seem to. I passed with an A. I think he was scared he would be fired if he tried to retaliate like that.

Ugh. This defense annoys me to no end. The point is that it's a choice that shouldn't be chosen! Saying "prove that being homosexual is a choice by being gay" is like saying "prove that suicide is a choice by killing yourself." Just because something is a choice doesn't mean you need to demonstrate it.

[same guest here] Good to know. I don't like homophobes either. Homophobes hate homosexual people for having homosexual feelings. That's cruel and wrong. I simply think that attacking the "it's a choice" idea with "well, you try it" is a terrible argument.

But who in their right mind would choose to feel something that they know people would hate them for. People have died because of being gay, I don't think they would choose to be hated by their families and friends and ostracized by their peers just cuz they felt like it, your sexual feelings can't exactly be switched on and off like a lightbulb

I completely agree with the first guest. It all depends on what environment one grows up in. Being gay isn't something that you should be ashamed of, and there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. But the choice of fulfilling homosexual desires is what makes it sinful. I'm a catholic and I understand that you guys probably hate me because I'm a guest and you may believe that I (along with all other Catholics) am trying to force my beliefs upon you guys. But just the mere fact that somebody put this on a website promoting your beliefs is attempting to shove your beliefs on us.

Two people of the same sex cannot physically produce kids together for a reason.
