Ouch. That's like the time my dad gave me an old flip phone for my birthday, then proceeded to tell me about how his insurance company gave it to him for free when he lost his blackberry but he didn't like the replacement so he gave it to me as a birthday present, and then he made me pay for the phone plan and didn't contribute a single dollar towards my birthday.

Maybe he was trying to get you used to adult responsibilities? If you didn't have a job back then, chances are you got the money from your parents anyway.

Yeah funny story..... That was my tenth birthday. Yep, every kid wants to get a almost useless, outdated device that takes away their allowance for their tenth birthday. Also thanks to my lack of people to text or call I never touched the thing and my dad would threaten to take away my XBox if I didn't buy another prepaid card for it.

One time my grandad gave me 5 credit cards. That didn't work. He literally got me slips of plastic. That didn't do anything. They were just slips of plastic
