I have personally had an epidural and can say it was the most wonderful thing ever! Yes your whole lower body feels paralyzed but you can still move your legs. They feel heavy. The effects wear off a few hours later and barring any complications you won't really experience any side effects afterwards. The most common side effect is a spinal headache. Which is caused when a tear forms in the dura (the layer the numbing medicne goes under) which can cause spinal fluid to leak causing a headache that gets worse when standing and better when laying flat.
